To make a dream a reality, we must set goals. A goal needs to be quantifiable. So don’t be afraid to set a date to reach your goal. Give yourself something specific to work towards. Really, a goal is simply a dream with a deadline.

Sights from my walks this week

October Goal Update

I set the goal of walking 30 miles during the month of October. To keep myself accountable, here is an update. As of yesterday I have walked 16.05 miles. I crossed the half way point in reaching my goal! When I was planning how many miles I would walk, at first I thought 50 miles would be a good number. Then I realized I should probably not make it so difficult that I set myself up for failure. I want to succeed and make it possible to reach the goal. Only then can I form a new habit. Another goal can be set after reaching the first goal. Once you succeed at reaching one goal, you will be more likely to reach the second and so on.

I am testing out different speeds of walking and enjoying different routes of incline to keep things interesting. I even discovered an audio workout for walking on the Audible by Aaptiv . It has helped me to increase the intensity of my workout while learning my limits. This week I pushed myself a little too far by running a few intervals during the walk. It resulted in a flare in my auto-immune symptoms. Yet, I learned more about my body in the process and can set a new limit for my next walk. I’ll slow down a bit and keep walking!

Goals are simply Dreams with deadlines. You can do it!

Set goals!
